Football Players' Plaque
Dear Players,
This is actually a 5’ x 8’ lighted sign box (pictured below) permanently
mounted on the wall of the ticket booth and rest room building in our
stadium. It is a fundraiser, with any profit going to “S.A.F.E.”
(stadium addition fund effort). The project is planned for completion
by 09-01-09, the 50
th year of BHS football. The building
will house two 20’x20’ half-time rooms to be used for guest and home
football and soccer teams. These are not locker rooms but furnished
with folding chairs only, with the best possible heat, light and air
conditioning as well as rest rooms and water fountains. We have been in
need of this building since I came in 1959 to be the first football
coach. Please help us finally get it done. WCBOE committed in 2006 to
$200,000 of the estimated cost with
BABI responsible for the balance
of $53,000. It is correct that we have raised $30,000 (BABI), but
$9,500 has been spent for an architect, site plan engineer, signage, and
advertising. Also, in these tight economic times, there is no guarantee
that WCBOE can meet their original commitment. This building will
become a reality, hopefully, on the target date – but we need your
participation.
Any BHS alumni players wishing to have his name on this sign may do so
by contributing $50 to the project. You do this by sending your name
(or name of player you want to recognize) and a check or money order (to
BABI). Please mail to Mrs. Dotty Piccolomini, P.O. Box 581,
Shepherdstown, WV 25443. There are spaces for 150 names on the sign and
62 have been filled. These open are on a first-come-basis offer.
Recognize our coaches of the first 50 years of BHS football and donate
(tax deductible) to a worthy cause.
